Patricia (Pat) Acker has a BS in Social Work, MS in counseling, over 40 years in healthcare including 17 years of hospice experience. Pat also was privileged to attend many births as a childbirth educator for 10 years.

One terrible year, Pat's 54-year-old father died in a motorcycle accident and her brother-in-law was killed in an industrial accident 10 days later.  Through these personal tragedies and her work as a hospice social worker, she became aware of the wonderful lessons the dying can teach us. She began recording stories of those nearing death and those choosing to LIVE with dying. She found comfort through these short stories of faith, hope, love, forgiveness, angels and near-death experiences and she hopes to share these inspiring stories with others.

The Dying Teach Us How to Live's compassionate view of the journey of the dying and their friends and family includes over 70 original paintings and drawings created by the author to make the experience more personal.
