Catherine May

Catherine has a great deal of experience in public service, having worked in libraries for twenty years before taking her current position as Executive Director for the Greene County Historical Society in Xenia OH, starting in January 2008. She served as a volunteer in the late 1980s, and society board member for three years (2004-2006); when the former director retired, she stepped in.
She was employed at Clark State Community College Library as a circulation specialist from 1999-2007, assisting students, faculty, staff and the public with their research and book needs. Before that, she worked at the Greene County Room, the local history and genealogy department of the Greene County Public Library, from 1987-1999, beginning as a student worker and leaving as a Local History Associate, assisting the public with their research, preparing databases and finding aids, and maintaining files.
Catherine has presented local history lectures to a variety of local and community groups, and has written several articles. She has research acknowledgments in five books, in addition to writing historical matter and choosing photographs for Historic Greene County: an illustrated history (San Antonio TX: Historical Publishing Network, 2010), her only published work so far.
