August GCHS Meeting

Xenia Fire Department History To Be Featured

At the next meeting of the Greene County Ohio Historical Society, 74 West Church St., on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 7 PM, the public is invited to hear about the long and honorable history of the fire service in general,@ and the Xenia Fire Department in particular. Speaker Jim Langan served on the city department from 1970 to 1996, retiring as a Lieutenant, and also served for 4 years with Xenia Twp. He will cover a time period ranging from the volunteer firefighter days, all the way up to those of the chartreuse fire trucks, which replaced the traditional red ones in the late 1970s. He will be bringing some artifacts to show as well. Everyone is welcome to attend this free program.
