Join us for our upcoming play, The Glass Menagerie, a drama by Tennessee Williams. Awarded Best Play in 1945 by the New York Drama Critics' Circle and acclaimed as Williams's first great Broadway success, this emotionally devastating portrait of hope is a memory of Saint Louis in 1937. Tennessee Williams’s autobiographical play introduces audiences to Tom Wingfield, an aspiring poet who toils in a shoe warehouse to support his overbearing mother, Amanda, and debilitatingly shy sister, Laura after being abandoned by their father. Amanda, originally from a genteel Southern family, regales her children frequently with tales of her idyllic youth and the scores of suitors who once pursued her.
