Xenia Community and Businesses Rally Around One Bistro to Celebrate National Everybody Eats Week

One Bistro is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for National Everybody Eats Week, a campaign which seeks to ensure food security, regardless of financial means, while empowering everybody to feel welcomed at the table.

Local Xenia and Greene County government officials, Xenia business owners, and the community as a whole are rallying around this vision and involving themselves in a variety of ways.

Xenia Mayor Sarah Mays will kick off the celebration on Wednesday, 8/28 with an official proclamation from the City of Xenia declaring August 25th-31st National Everybody Eats Week. She will also volunteer at One Bistro as a “Celebrity Server” on Friday, 8/30.

“Celebrity Servers” throughout National Everybody Eats Week include: Dr. Gabe Lofton, Superintendent of Xenia Community Schools, Karl Colon, Executive Director of the Greene County Public Library & Rotary President, 93.7 WFCJ’s radio host, Ken Kettering, Perk Reichley, President/Owner of Reichley Insurance Inc., Barbara Mills of the Mills Family Foundation, Wade T. Oberlin, host of “Last Exit” on 88.9 WCSU, Brent Merriman, Xenia City Manager, Matt Bennett, Owner/Principle of Anderson-Williamson Insurance Agency, Dale Brunner, President of the YMCA of Greater Dayton, Marshall Foiles, General Manager/Owner of Buckminn’s D&D Harley-Davidson, Julia Wright Ables of Twist, Inc., Dr. Robert Franklin, General Manager of WCUS-FM, and Alan Liming, President of the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to serving, local businesses and philanthropists have stepped up to MATCH dollars that are donated as “Pay-it-Forwards” in the café throughout the week. This gives diners who “Pay-it-Forward” opportunity to double their dollars!

“We all know everybody must eat to survive,” says Denise Davis, One Bistro Board President, “and when a community comes together to support National Everybody Eats Week, it tells me they get it! Seeing our community support a national movement to provide food security and dignity for all, tells me Xenia truly understands the mission of One Bistro, ‘to provide a place where our neighbors eat and come together as one community.’” The heartwarming support of the Xenia community towards the café and its mission makes it evident that Xenia cares for all its neighbors.

During National Everybody Eats Week, One Bistro will be open for dinner Friday, 8/30 and Saturday, 8/31 from 5:00-9:00 PM. If you have been wanting to visit the Bistro, but haven’t been able to make it for lunch, you will have a chance to join in the celebration of this very special week. The café will also be open for its traditional Wednesday night Community Meal on 8/28 from 5:00-7:00 PM. The sponsors and volunteers that night are the Christian Motorcycle Association – Dayton Chapter.

One Bistro continues to encourage all Xenia and surrounding residents to come for a meal during National Everybody Eats Week. Or, consider donating at https://pushpay.com/g/onebistroxenia to help a neighbor in need.

One Bistro’s regular business hours are Wednesday-Friday from 11:00-2:00, Wednesday Evening Community Meal from 5:00-7:00 and Saturday Brunch from 8:00-2:00.

About One Bistro
Our Mission: To provide a place where our neighbors eat and come together as one community.

Our Vision
•    Share love, give hope, and provide a sense of community to our neighbors.
•    Reach out and help to meet the needs of neighbors, both physically and spiritually.
•    Serve privileged and under-privileged neighbors by giving a hand up, not a hand out.
•    Provide healthy, affordable meals in a warm and welcoming environment.
•    Eliminate hunger, build relationships, and celebrate community with our neighbors.

A faith-based non-profit Biznistry® established for the betterment of our community. At our core is a place from which we strive to serve a healthy, affordable meal to our neighbors—those who have the ability to pay and those who under normal circumstances would not be able to eat out. As a Social Entrepreneurship, we exist to worship God and share His love. To help the hungry find a meal. To help the lost find hope. To help the addicted find support. To help the homeless find a sense of home. To help the mentally and physically impaired find acceptance as a valued volunteer. To help all find love and purpose. An investment in One Bistro is an investment in people.
