City of Xenia Extends Electric Aggregation Program

The City of Xenia has extended its electrical aggregation agreement with First Energy Solutions to supply energy for Xenia residents through May of 2018. The original agreement was executed after City residents approved a ballot measure in November of 2013 to allow the City to aggregate electricity.

The new fixed rate for residents will be 5.59 cents per kilowatt hour. Residents who are not already under contract with other suppliers for electric will receive a letter from First Energy Solutions explaining the program. If residents wish not to participate in the program they may opt out by returning the letter provided by First Energy no later than December 19th. Residents who do not opt out of the program will be enrolled automatically.

Residents may leave the City program at any time and for any reason without a termination fee. Again, those residents who already have agreements with other electric suppliers will not be impacted by the City program. Residents will receive only one bill from DP&L who will continue to deliver the electric, read meters, and respond to outages.

Essentially nothing will change for residents other than the rate they are paying for electric. For more information residents may call First Energy Solutions at 1-866-636-3749, call the City of Xenia at 937-376-7232, or visit the City website at www.explorexenia.com.

Residents wishing to compare the City program to other offers can visit the State of Ohio website on energy choice at www.energychoice.ohio.gov.
