Bloom with Xenia

Spring is here and it’s time again to Adopt-a-Spot downtown.

beautiful spring flowers 2 t2Last year’s efforts to beautify downtown Xenia were well done and I thank everyone for the hard work in planting and maintaining your adopted planters and beds. They were beautiful. This year should be even better with additional maintenance staff and materials available from the city. The city will have mulch available if you need it at the city service center on Towler Road. Pickup can be coordinated by contacting me.

There is construction downtown this spring as the new safety improvements are installed. This will affect some of the curb islands and possibly some planters on the west side of Detroit Street. You may view the plan at: http://www.ci.xenia.oh.us/556/Downtown-Safety-Project

If you have any questions about how it affects your spot, please contact me.

Attached is this years program announcement and adoption application. I encourage everyone to adopt a spot again this year and send back the form as soon as possible. There is also a fill-in form available on the city website: http://www.ci.xenia.oh.us/315/Bloom-with-Xenia If you adopted a spot last year, it is reserved for you until April 22. If you would like to change your spot or adopt another please let me know. This year we plan to have more Master Gardener volunteers available to help you with plant selection, maintenance etc., so please be sure to fill out that part of the form.

Let’s all make Xenia more beautiful one spot at a time.
