Greene CATS Expands Free Rides to Covid Vaccination Appointments

As COVID-19 vaccination efforts ramp up across Ohio, the Ohio Department of Transportation is providing extra funding to help local transit agencies and health departments to ensure all eligible Ohioans can get to vaccination sites.

“Transportation should not be a hurdle to any eligible Ohioan who wants to be vaccinated. We’re doing everything we can to make sure that access is available to all Ohioans, not just those with a vehicle or that live near a vaccination site,” said ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks.

Effective March 16, 2021: Due to the additional funding provided by the State of Ohio and local agencies, Greene CATS Public Transit is offering free transportation to all Greene County residents to their COVID vaccination sites. Greene CATS is extending their reservation window allowing residents to request a trip up to the day before their appointment by noon. Greene CATS will continue to take reservations for all other trip purposes based on current reservation parameters, namely two business days in advance by noon – up to 30 days in advance.

The state of Ohio has created a website to facilitate who is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and where to book your appointment. For more information, visit https://gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov/.
