The Xenia Community Festival returns to Shawnee Park in 2017 with new features and old favorites. The Balloon Glow lights up its traditional first festival night of Friday, Sept. 15, and hot local band Brass Tracks performs on Saturday, Sept. 16. These events will be free.
Brass Tracks is an 8-piece band featuring an amazing brass section led by internationally renowned saxophonist Hal Melia. Step back in time and hear the sounds of Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown and many more as Brass Tracks pays tribute to the great horn bands and songs of the 60's, 70's, 80's and beyond.
Paddleboats on the lake, food, vendors, a parade, free entertainment and the return of field day for kids will be part of the 2017 Festival. The Festival will open at 4 pm Friday, with the official opening ceremony starting at 6 pm and activities continuing until 9 pm. The hours Saturday are 9 am to 9 pm. The annual parade will open Saturday morning's activities, moving from downtown Xenia north through Xenia, led by Grand Marshall Gabby Enright of WHIO TV.
