SAS Automation Wins SBA's Exporter of the Year!!

Local Small Business, SAS Automation, Wins SBA’s Region V Small Business Exporter of the Year

COLUMBUS SAS Automation, a Xenia-based small business, has earned regional recognition as the 2018 U.S. Small Business Administration’s Region V exporter, after winning the Columbus District award and going on to compete against other small businesses in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The small business, led by Rob Dalton, is a global leader in the design and manufacture of robotic End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) and has been engaged in robotics interface for more than 20 years.

“We know small business owners sacrifice and struggle each day and the SBA is here to help them succeed,” Regional Administrator Rob Scott commented. “During National Small Business Week, it’s especially fitting for us to recognize a hard-working and deserving entrepreneur like Rob Dalton who has built his business, created jobs and fueled America’s economic engine.”

SAS Automation continues to grow internationally, utilizing SBA’s State Trade Expansion Program to advertise, attend foreign trade shows and solicit new businesses in areas which would not have been economically feasible otherwise. STEP is designed to help small businesses unlock trade opportunities in global markets and tap into the nearly 96 percent of consumers that live outside of the U.S.

By taking advantage of this program, the company has increased sales in global markets by 26.5 percent in 2017, or roughly $2 million. It currently exports to countries including Mexico, Germany, Canada, China and Columbia.

“SAS Automation exemplifies how small businesses can grow their exports and compete on a global basis,” said Kathy Marshalek, Wright State University’s Export Assistance Network director. “The business’s creativity, utilization of resources, good marketing, experienced management and strong product will help them to continue to grow, generate export sales and create jobs.”

Dalton will be recognized for his company’s achievements during National Small Business Week, which will occur on April 29 – May 5 of this year. Every year since 1963, National Small Business Week has been set aside by the President of the United States to recognize the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
