 Symposium on the Opiate Epidemic to be held this Friday, Oct. 27, 2017

The Greene County Drug-Free Coalition is bringing together local elected officials in an open forum to “bring humanity and data to the opiate epidemic”. This free event will be held on Friday, October 27 from 5:30-8:00 pm at Soin Medical Center in the Kumar Conference Room, 3535 Pentagon Blvd., Beavercreek

The public is invited to attend. The event will be emceed by Brent Lewis, Chair of the Greene County Drug-Free Coalition. Dr. Greta Mayer, CEO of Mental Health and Recovery Board of Clark, Greene and Madison Counties will provide a welcome and introductions of speakers.

Topics and speakers include:

  • What are Opiates and Why are they so Addictive?–Dr.Brian Merrill, TCN
  • Treatment, Recovery & Intervention Strategies –Lynn Oliver, Manager, TCN SUD Division; Judge Beth Cappelli; Michele Cox, Executive Director of Women's Recovery Center; Nate Crago, Manager of Christopher House; and Amy Pulver, Hope Spot
  • Faces & Voices of Recovery: Members of the Greene County Recovery Community
  • Extent of the Opiate Problem: Dr. Kevin L. Sharrett, Greene County Coroner
  • Role of Elected Officials: Dan Kirkpatrick

The opiate crisis is affecting ALL communities. This event will provide elected officials with accurate and relevant information to help make informed decisions. The public is invited to attend as information is presented from local professionals who have personal experience with the opiate epidemic. All those who attend this event will be able to pick up drug disposal bags so that they can safely dispose of any unused prescription medications in their homes. Please come and learn about addiction, recovery, and the many strategies to combat the opiate epidemic in Greene County.
