Central State University Offers One Dose Vaccinations to Students
Central State University announced that the University will begin working with the state of Ohio to set-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics on campus. The Central State vaccination clinics will start next week and will offer the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Central State will make the Johnson and Johnson vaccine available to students prior to the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was shown to be 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and death.
“There is no difference between the vaccines as far as what really matters — keeping you alive, keeping you out of the hospital, keeping you safe,” said, Dr. Karen Mathews, Central State University Medical Director.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine also has the advantage of only requiring a single dose to receive the full benefit of the vaccine.
"Young people are less likely to get sick from the coronavirus but they are significant carriers of the virus. By offering one-dose clinics on campus, students who wish to be vaccinated will have an easily accessible option to get the vaccine with their peers," said Mathews.
The goal is to offer COVID-19 vaccines on-campus to all of CSU students before the school year ends in May.
The following COVID-19 vaccination clinics are scheduled for students:
Thursday, April 8 – Beacom-Lewis/Walker Gymnasiums– Noon - 4 p.m.
Friday, April 9 – Beacom-Lewis/Walker Gymnasiums– Noon - 4 p.m.
Additional student COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be announced during the week of April 12, based on vaccine shipment schedules.
