Our AMAZING Volunteers

Karen
Karen is a dear volunteer who has been faithfully serving One Bistro for over 3 years!

It all began while she was working in the office at Washington Heights Baptist Church. Chef Robert, One Bistro's founder, was planning a visit to the church to speak at their missions conference. Karen's job was to write up a small description of each ministry that would be represented. She decided to take a trip to One Bistro's cafe in Miamisburg in order to gain a better understanding of what it was all about. The volunteer who served her that day kidded her that, while she came in to find out about the mission of One Bistro, she would, "come back for the food!"

A few years later Karen started her own business in her home and suddenly found herself with some extra time. She was approached by a One Bistro board member who asked if she would pray about becoming a regular volunteer. She had always imagined that one day she would be able to be more involved in ministry, but had never pictured anything like One Bistro!

She began to volunteer weekly, serving, waiting tables, washing dishes, anything that was needed. But what is it that she really loves about One Bistro? "The people!" Karen exclaimed. She enjoys the customers, the people who come in to work for a meal, and the other volunteers. "It was outside my comfort zone at first and I had to work up my nerve to go the first time, but it has been a blessing to me!"

Jaret Capozzi & Kale Shaffer

Jaret Capozzi and Kale Shaffer are both freshman at Bishop Fenwick High School in Franklin, OH. They are part of a student leadership group called S.A.L.T., which stands for Student Athlete Leadership Team. Bishop Fenwick requires all of its students to find a way to give back to their community. Jaret and Kale feel that they have found an amazing volunteer opportunity through One Bistro on Saturday mornings! "Saturday is an easy day to volunteer," Jaret says, "It just makes sense." They heard about One Bistro through friends and were so impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. They both served at the bistro for the first time on Saturday, but expect to be back regularly over the next 3 years! "I will definitely grow from the experience," Kale declared, "It is worth it!" Jaret added, "It is so good to make someone else have a smile on their face!"

"The food is always great. The prices are extremely reasonable and, most of all, the mission is one that they are truly fulfilling." ~ Robin

How To Volunteer

                 1.  Those who volunteer in order to provide a meal for themselves and/or their families.

"I was at my nephew’s wedding reception in Springfield. The food was delicious! I did not realize that the caterer was One Bistro in Xenia! I am from Xenia and had heard of One Bistro, but I did not realize that they did catering as well. I recommend them highly. They had several types of Egg Benedict, fresh salads and fresh fruits! Delicious!" ~ Karla
