Join Our Team: WYSO seeks a Business Support and Events Manager

WYSO Public Radio in Yellow Springs, OH seeks a Business Support and Events Manager to join our dynamic team.

WHO ARE WE?

We’re at 91.3FM on the dial. We’re also on mobile devices and at events throughout the community.

We are Greater Dayton’s NPR affiliate. This means we are your local source for NPR’s fact-based, independent journalism that examines diverse perspectives.

We don’t just air national content. We have a local news team. And we train community members to tell the stories of their neighborhoods through our award-winning “Community Voices” program.

In fact, our mission is “To give voice to our local community and to inform and inspire our listeners with news, storytelling and music.”

WYSO is more than a radio station. We are a vibrant cultural organization that connects our listeners with each other, with their neighborhoods, and with the broader world.

WHO ARE YOU?

You love public radio. Your written and verbal communication skills are excellent. You’re organized. You believe in the public service mission of WYSO. You have at least three years of experience in sales support/administration or nonprofit fundraising. You’re comfortable working independently at your desk but also enjoy schmoozing at events. You can thrive in a fast-paced, team environment but also be self-motivated and independent. You have a sense of humor.

WHAT DOES THE BUSINESS SUPPORT AND EVENTS MANAGER DO, EXACTLY?

75% of this position is providing essential administrative support to WYSO’s business support department. (Also known as “underwriting”: businesses donate to WYSO and receive, in exchange, short on-air descriptions of their businesses.) This department is led by our Underwriting Director. You’ll work with businesses and nonprofits to reach the desirable public radio audience through traditional broadcast underwriting as well as through sponsorship of podcasts and special events. You’ll help them get their message out to WYSO’s 70,000+ weekly listeners. You’ll exercise your creativity, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills daily. Your account management prowess means you’ll be on top of contract renewals and copy deadlines.

The remaining 25% of this position is coordinating special events – mostly small and informal – of which there are approximately 10-12 per year. These include thank-you events for members of our major giving society and “friend-raising” events for our YP program.
