After months of planning and hours of commitment from the Old Fashioned Days Inc. the decision was made to postpone the festival for 2010. Factors that contributed to this decision were lack of vendor response, no parade, and decreased sponsorships. In 2008 the festival had over 100 food and craft vendors, 90 in 2009 and as of Aug 10th the Old Fashioned Days Inc. board had received just over 30 commitments. It is merely impossible to continue with the festival this year due to the lack of funds generated.
The decision was a very difficult one considering that the festival has been part of Xenia for many years. Thousands of festival goers have participated in this event when it was held in the streets downtown to when it was moved to Shawnee Park. This is why the Old Fashioned Days Inc. is committed to having a festival in 2011. Efforts will begin at the end of this year to find more vendors, raise funds for entertainment and work with the city of Xenia to bring back the parade.
