Artists Needed to Help Plan New X*ACT Arts Center

 

The Xenia Area Community theater is one step closer to realizing its mission by opening the X*ACT Arts Center in their theater building on East Second Street.  On January 19, 2013, artists who are interested in securing space to display and sell their works are invited to meet with the X*ACT Board to help plan the layout of the center.  To make room for the Center, the Second Act Thrift store will close at the end of the year.

The First Annual City of Xenia Winter Olympics was held at the Public Service Center Wednesday, December 12, 2012. With 2012 proving to be a relatively mild winter and the Public Service Center hiring several new employees, this event was a perfect opportunity to train employees while having fun.

Building Dedications Held

Dedication Ceremonies were held for the five new elementary schools on Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16. Students, parents, staff, and community members came together to celebrate the new buildings and the hope and promise held in these new centers of learning.

Cedarville and Central State Universities are joining to host the National Urban Education Conference “Passion, Power and Performance, Now” on  Jan. 23, 2013. The conference will prepare educational professionals for the challenges of teaching in urban environments.

Dr. Hahn Discusses Heart Health at Next WIB Luncheon

 

Chamber members will start the year with a foundation for good health as Dr. Harvey Sung-Ha Hahn of Southwest Cardiology discusses heart health, lifestyles and spirituality at the January 3 Women in Business Luncheon.  Dr. Hahn will also share his personal story with attendees at the Luncheon from 11:30 to 1 pm at the Xenia YMCA.
