SAS Automation 2011 Green Energy Ohio Tour Fact Sheet

SAS Installs Largest Solar Array in Greene County

Take the "Green Energy Ohio Tour" and network with real people using renewable energy, energy efficiency and green design on Saturday and Sunday, October 1 & 2, 2011.

Three local solar arrays will be shown: SAS Automation on Patton Street, (the largest solar array in Greene Co.), a residential array on Fauber Road in Sugarcreek Township and a solar hot water system on a dorm at Glen Helen's Educational facility in Yellow Springs.

Green Energy Ohio (GEO) is the Ohio Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society, a non-profit organization that supports the commitment to alternative energy, will be hosting a tour October 1st & 2nd and will be inclusive of all renewable energy, efficiency, and green design. Each year they host and support the national solar tour to educate Ohioans on solar and energy conservation.

Ohio's growing green energy industry is celebrated each October in a statewide event that enlightens consumers about the developing marketplace.

For the last 11 years, the educational non-profit Green Energy Ohio (GEO) provides key market information to the public on the first weekend in October to showcase the industry across the state.

This year they are changing the "Ohio Solar Tour" name to the "Green Energy Ohio Tour" to more accurately describe the tour that features not only solar, but tour sites with wind, energy efficiency, biomass and other green energy technologies. This FREE statewide event on October 1 & 2 provides the unique opportunity for people to visit hundreds of Open House Sites and talk with owners living and working with clean energy technologies.

The pictures below are of SAS Automation's 51.2 kWatt solar array. It consists of 222 solar panels and will be producing approximately 60 Million Watt Hours of electricity this year to assist their manufacturing. It also has a battery backup system to provide electricity to critical loads during power outages.

Shop at Blue Jacket Books to Support the Family Violence Prevention Center, October 15-16

In honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Blue Jacket Books in Xenia will donate 20% of all sales made on Friday, October 15th and Saturday, October 16th to the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County (FVPC).

This special partnership will support FVPC's mission to support and provide safe housing to victims of family violence. In addition to shelter services, FVPC offers a wide variety of intervention, prevention, and educational programs that benefit our community, including life skills training, individual and group counseling, and healthy relationship and workplace violence presentations.

During this two-day event, Blue Jacket Books will distribute information about the shelter and its programs, and the many ways community members can help. They will also accept donations of new or nearly new children's books for children living at the FVCP.

"This is a great way to get some of your holiday shopping done early, or just find yourself something good to read, while also helping our community," said Elizabeth Svendsen, owner of Blue Jacket Books. "Family violence affects people at all levels of society, and it's important that every community have resources for those affected. I am pleased to be able to support the great work done by the Family Violence Prevention Center."

Blue Jacket Books, 60 S. Detroit St., sells gently used, out-of print, and rare books, as well as new books of local interest. If you are unable to make it to the store on October 15th or 16th but wish to participate, call the store at 376-3522 to make an appointment to shop in support of the Family Violence Prevention Center.
