The Greene County Career Center will host a business networking event for area chamber of commerce members on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 5:30-7 p.m. The event will be hosted by the Career Center and catered by students in the award-winning Culinary Arts program.

"This will be a great opportunity for all chamber members in Greene County to interact and network," said Superintendent Dan Schroer. "We have hosted events like this for individual chambers in the past but thought it would be a great get them all together on one night."

Chamber members from Beavercreek, Bellbrook-Sugarcreek, Cedarville, Fairborn, Jamestown, Xenia and Yellow Springs are invited. Non-chamber members are also welcome and encouraged to learn more about chamber membership.

In addition to networking, tours of the Career Center will be provided. Greene County Career Center offers programs for a variety of career-technical areas for high school and adult students.

The school is located at 2960 West Enon Road, just off State Route 235 between Xenia and Fairborn. Attendees should park in the rear of the main building.

For more information, contact the Career Center at 372-6942, extension 111.

Download Now!  Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program    Popular
We have learned that the new Ohio Incumbent Worker Training Voucher Program will be announced sometime within the next 30 days (we were told by JobsOhio West that unfortunately there are no specific release dates at this time). This program is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE; there will be $20M available throughout the state in FY 13 and $30M available in FY 14. There is a cap of $4k per employee and $500k per federal tax ID #.

Companies will use the Ohio Means Jobs website: https://ohiomeansjobs.com/omj/ to register for the program. For this particular program, a company will have to fill out an application online; there will not be an option to upload a spread sheet or other documents. As you will read in the attached document, there are certain requirements for an employer and employee to be eligible for the program.

If you choose to pursue the program, the most important thing you can do at this time is gather and prepare all the information on the second page of the attached document, which details application requirements. We will make sure that you learn when the online, web-based application is available for you to fill out.

Sincerely,
David Kell, Director
