Shop at Blue Jacket Books to Support the Family Violence Prevention Center, October 15-16 |
Shop at Blue Jacket Books to Support the Family Violence Prevention Center, October 15-16
In honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Blue Jacket Books in Xenia will donate 20% of all sales made on Friday, October 15th and Saturday, October 16th to the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County (FVPC).
This special partnership will support FVPC's mission to support and provide safe housing to victims of family violence. In addition to shelter services, FVPC offers a wide variety of intervention, prevention, and educational programs that benefit our community, including life skills training, individual and group counseling, and healthy relationship and workplace violence presentations.
During this two-day event, Blue Jacket Books will distribute information about the shelter and its programs, and the many ways community members can help. They will also accept donations of new or nearly new children's books for children living at the FVCP.
"This is a great way to get some of your holiday shopping done early, or just find yourself something good to read, while also helping our community," said Elizabeth Svendsen, owner of Blue Jacket Books. "Family violence affects people at all levels of society, and it's important that every community have resources for those affected. I am pleased to be able to support the great work done by the Family Violence Prevention Center."
Blue Jacket Books, 60 S. Detroit St., sells gently used, out-of print, and rare books, as well as new books of local interest. If you are unable to make it to the store on October 15th or 16th but wish to participate, call the store at 376-3522 to make an appointment to shop in support of the Family Violence Prevention Center. |
