| Description: | "The City of Xenia is pleased to announce that the Farmers' Market in downtown Xenia opened two weeks early for the 2012 growing season," announced Jim Percival, Xenia City Manager. "The Xenia Farmers' Market is being held for the second year in a row at the Towne Square Shopping Center parking lot, just north of Kmart." Greene County Farmers' Market Association members Heritage Baked Goods and Robert Irvin and Sons both had booths open at the initial market where they were offering items such as lettuce, honey, perennials, jellies, zucchini and banana bread, maple syrup, cookies, baguettes and sourdough bread. The market will continue to grow as the summer and the produce progresses. The market will run every Tuesday afternoon through September (or when the produce runs out) from 2-6:00 p.m. "The Xenia Downtown Revitalization Committee is pleased to have a downtown market, and urges shoppers not only to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables, but also to stop by some of the local merchants for other retail items on Tuesdays," suggested Heidi Hilderbrandt, owner of the Flower Stop and Treasurer for the XDRC. Locovores should mark their calendars for every Tuesday 2-6:00 p.m. for produce and baked goods produced right here in Greene County. The Farmers' Market is held by the Greene County Farmers' Market Association. Interested farmers should call Bob Irvin at 937 675-4071. |
