Description: Greene County Parks & Trails with Wagner Subaru of Fairborn host Little Miami River Celebration on June 23; new partnership to clean up national and Scenic River

Celebrate all that is wet, wild and wonderful with Greene County Parks & Trails and Wagner Subaru of Fairborn at the Little Miami River Celebration from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Narrows Reserve, 2575 Indian Ripple Rd., Beavercreek.

The annual event is free and open to the public.

"All of us at Greene County Parks & Trails (GCPT) are excited to share the magic of the Little Miami River," says GCP Chief Naturalist Cris Barnett. "The river is such a treasure to our region; we need to enjoy it and protect it for the future. The Little Miami River not only provides value for fish and wildlife but also provides recreational opportunities for everyone."

Participants of all ages will have the chance to test their skills at fly-fishing, get up close with live fish from the Little Miami River, experience the newest in canoes and kayaks, learn the latest about water and boat safety and explore the river for water wildlife.

Participants will include Greene County Parks & Trails naturalists, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft, FRESSA, National Association of Professional River Angers, ODNR Division of Wildlife, Rivers Edge Outfitters and more. Wagner Subaru of Fairborn will have a vehicle on-site for participants to view.

This year, GCPT will join with the Sugarcreek Twp. River Keepers to help clean the National and State Scenic River. The group will be picking up trash that litters the river between the Narrows Reserve and Mill Bridge Canoe Launch. Registration for canoes is required; experienced canoers recommended.

Participants should wear shoes to get wet and bring gloves. Check-in time for the clean-up float is 8:15 a.m.
