| Description: | Greene County Parks & Trails Sentinels and Park Rangers host Bike Camp Come join the GCP&T Trail Sentinels and Park Rangers for a week-long bike camp that features cycling rules, safety and bike trail etiquette from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 4 to 8 for participants ages 10 years and older and June 25 to 29 for those seven to nine years old. Bike camp will be based at Xenia Station, 150 Miami Ave., Xenia, which serves as the hub for the region's paved, multi-use bike trails. The week's schedule will begin with a "Bike Roadeo" that teaches the skills and rules of cycling. "We could not hold our bike camp without the amazing support from our volunteer trail sentinels," says Greene County Parks & Trails Sgt. Bill Nickell. "We are so lucky to have our miles of paved trails and we want everyone to enjoy them safely. This bike camp will show our youngest cyclists how to have fun and stay safe at the same time." K & G Bike Center will have a mechanic available from 9 to 10 a.m., on both June 4 and 25. During the rest of the week, cyclists will ride a different Greene County trail each day with a stop for a brown bag lunch---and at a local ice cream shop too. Participants need to provide: * Money for a visit to an ice cream shop; * Brown bag lunch with non-perishables; * Filled water bottle; * Well-maintained bike (suggest mountain bike/multi-speed bike ;) * Helmet and closed-toe shoes are required. Cost for the Bike Camp is $35 for Greene County residents; $45 for non-residents. For more information, call Greene County Parks & Trails at 937.562.6440 or email rgregory@co.greene.oh.us. |
