X-Plan Update
X-Plan: Action Plan in the Works, Citizen Input Still Needed
Xenia citizens: You helped us create a vision for the future of Xenia; now the City needs your help in translating the vision to action!
The City is currently developing an Action Plan matrix that will identify and prioritize tasks the City and its partners should undertake in the near future to implement X-Plan. The Action Plan will distinguish among tasks that should commence immediately, within the next five years, and longer-term or ongoing tasks. Xenia citizens, the X-Plan Steering Committee, Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council will help to shape the Action Plan.
Xenia citizens can help to shape the Action Plan by helping the City prioritize the large number of recommendations in X-Plan. This can happen through one of the following ways:
- Visit one of the X-Plan poster displays in the City Hall lobby (101 N. Detroit St.) or Xenia Public Library lobby (76 East Market Street), view the display and fill out a comment card.
- Join the X-Plan “Virtual Meeting” at www.xplan.ideascale.com. The City has extended its usage of this site until October 24. The X-Plan goals and strategies are summarized on this site, and citizens may vote on individual strategies. Citizens can also view the X-Plan posters or the entire draft plan on the X-Plan website (www.ci.xenia.oh.us/x-plan.html, click on “Plan Documents”). Citizens must first register on the Virtual Meeting website before voting.
Feedback from comment cards and online voting will help the City assign priorities as it develops the Action Plan. Since resources are limited, prioritization will be critical. Once complete, the Action Plan will be presented to the X-Plan Steering Committee, the general public, Planning and Zoning Commission, and City Council (see the project schedule on the X-Plan website by clicking on “Schedule”).
X-Plan is a vision for future development and community improvement in Xenia, and a roadmap of how to achieve the vision. It will guide future decisions by City leaders to allocate resources, pursue grants, review development proposals, and maintain/improve infrastructure.
X-Plan has been and will continue to be a citizen-driven process. Xenians can influence and take ownership of their community’s future by participating in the process.
