Xenia Community Festival News

Your chance to participate in the Xenia Community Festival starts now. Why wait until the Festival begins on September 14? Vendor, sponsor and parade applications are still being accepted and available on the Xenia Community Festival website.  A meeting for Festival volunteers is coming up August 16.

The Festival has more than 40 craft vendors and food vendors and is seeking more. We have extended the deadline for vendors and Parade applicants and are accepting application now. All forms are on the Festival website at www.xeniacommunityfestival.com or on the Xenia Chamber website at www.xacc.com

The Festival Committee thanks Festival Event Partner Greene Memorial Hospital/KHN for its sponsorship this year. The Committee is still seeking businesses and organizations as Festival sponsors. The Festival Volunteer Meeting will be at 6 pm Aug. 16 at the Xenia Adult Recreation & Service Center, 130 E Church St. across from the YMCA.
The festival is less than 60 days away. Two days of entertainment and fun have been planned for September 14 and 15 in downtown Xenia. The festivities will begin at 4:30 pm Friday, September 14 when local singer Renee Ponder sings the National Anthem on the main stage downtown. Festival Sponsor WBZI AM 1500 FM 100.3 will be broadcasting live from 4:30 until 6:30pm Friday with special guest Chubby Howard. On Saturday the stage will feature dance and music entertainment throughout the day.

The parade at 9 am Saturday morning will honor Grand Marshall Dr. Thomas J. Craft Sr. Dr. Craft is a gifted educator and scientist who has received the Congressional Gold Medal. The Parade route will be the same as last year, starting from Shawnee Park and ending at the Kmart parking lot.

The Balloon Glow begins at dusk Saturday, September 15, in the Kmart parking lot at dusk. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair so you can enjoy this grand finale of the Festival from beginning to end.
