Albert "Bert" G. Fath, Jr. 1918-2012

 

 

Former 1966 Torrence Award Winner A.G. Fath, Jr. passed on June 20th at the age of 94. "Bert", as he was affectionally called, owned Cherry's Furniture which was located in downtown Xenia on Main St. Sadly, it was destroyed by a fire shortly after the 1974 tornado.

Albert "Bert" G. Fath, Jr., age 94, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, June 20, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wives Anita Fath and Connie Fath; parents Rev. Albert G. and Edna Fath, Sr. He will be lovingly remembered by his children David (Kathy) Fath, Albert "Pete" G. (Lillian) Fath, III; grandchildren David K. "Kelly" (Sherri) Fath, Jr., D. Kevin (Heather) Fath, A.G. (Amy) Fath, IV, Bradley D. (Sara) Fath; step-children Michael Jordan, Mrs. David (Julie) Wedderburn and her family; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Marian Yearnd and Carolyn Thielen; two nieces and four nephews. Following his service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base during World War II, Bert managed then owned Cherry's Home Furnishings in Xenia, Ohio. In Xenia he served as President of the YMCA when the new facility was built. Also, he was a past recipient of the F. M. Torrence Award. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 - 11 am on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Highland Hills Baptist Church, 1415 Northrup Ave. NW, Grand Rapids 49504. Funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Dave Lamb officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Cadillac, Michigan.
