United Way and CAP Team Up for School Readiness
United Way of the Greater Dayton Area’s Greene County Branch and Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area, Greene County Branch (CAP) are joining forces once more to host their annual School Supply and Clothing Giveaway.
Now in its 6th year, the one-day event aims to equip as many children as possible with the tools and resources they will need to succeed during the 2012-2013 school year. More than 400 local children benefitted from the program last year by receiving basic necessities such as backpacks, notebooks and art supplies as well as new or gently used clothing. The event is for all children in Greene County School Districts. Both agencies are hoping that additional donors will step forward to help them serve as many children as possible.
The giveaway will be held on Friday, August 10th from 9am to 3pm in the Media Room at the Job and Family Services Center (541 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, OH 45385). Representatives from local health and human service agencies will be in attendance to provide information and guidance to families who may require additional forms of assistance.
Organizations who wish to collect donations for the program should contact Judy Darnell from CAP or Meg Gillis from United Way. Judy can be reached at (937) 376-7747, (937) 427-3377, or by email at judyd@cap-dayton.org. Meg can be reached at (937) 910-6003 or by email at maryg@dayton-unitedway.org. All donations should be delivered by August 3, 2012.
