Xenia Library Announces April Programs

  

Exciting and fun programs for people of all ages are being planned at the Xenia Community Library,

76 East Market Street, including a new Geneology Research Class for Beginners.


 

Ever wonder where you came from? Learn how to find out about your ancestors by attending the Beginning Genealogy Class in the upstairs meeting room at the Xenia Community Library, 76 East Market Street on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Instructor Barbara Lindsey will cover topics such as court records, vital statistics, research records and much more. Bring a brown bag lunch and spend the lunch hour conversing with the instructor.

Class space is limited to 30. Registration is required. Please call 937-352-4000 ext. 6 to register or register online at www.greenelibrary.info. This program is sponsored by the Greene County Public Library and the Greene County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.

 

April Story Times

Books & Art, a program for ages 3-6 w/adult, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Mon., Apr. 2, 23, 30, from 1-1:45 p.m.

Toddler Story Time for ages 2-3 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Wed., Apr. 4, 25, from 10:30-11 a.m.

Preschool Story Time will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Wed., Apr. 4, 25, from 10:30-11 a.m.

Baby Story Time will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Fri., Apr. 6, 27, from 10:30-11 a.m.

 

April Children¹s Programs

Windy Day Fun for ages 5-10 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thu., Apr. 12, from 4-5 p.m. Get ready for the windy days of spring with windy stories and windsock and kite crafts.

Tween Book Club for ages 9-12 will meet at the Xenia Community Library on Thu., Apr. 19, from 4-5 p.m. Meet with others who like to read and discuss books.

Get Your Game On, a program for ages 8+, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 24, from 4-5 p.m. Fun and games with the PS2, Gamecube, and Wii.

 

April Teen Programs

(for ages 12-18)

Peep-A-Palooza for ages 12-18 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thu., Apr. 5, from 4-5 p.m. Join in Peeps fun and games, crafts, trivia and snacks.

Duct Tape Crafts for ages 12-18 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 17, from 4-5 p.m. Use duct tape to make bows, bracelets, and bookmarks.

 

April Adult Programs

(for ages 18+)

A Civil War Movie for ages 18+ will be shown at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 3, from 2-7 p.m. Watch a movie set during the American Civil War era.

Introduction to the Computer, a program for ages 18+, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 3, from 4-5 p.m. Join in this hands-on class designed to teach the very basics of how to use the computer.

Medical Advancements of the Civil War, a program for ages 18+, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thu., Apr. 5, from 6-7:30 p.m. This power-point illustrated presentation explains medical advances and their impact on the subsequent development of American Medicine.

Introduction to the Internet for ages 18+ will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 10, from 4-5 p.m. This is a hands-on class teaching the very basics of what the internet is and how to use it.

A Book Club Discussion for ages 18+ will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Fri., Apr. 13, from 10:15-11:30 a.m. Join a book discussion.

Internet Applied for ages 18+ will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 17, from 4-5 p.m. Learn how to search the web.

Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War, a program for ages 18+, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 17, from 6-7:30 p.m. Contact the Xenia Community Library for copies of the readings.

Family Science Night starring Bill Richey will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thu., Apr. 19, from 6-7:30 p.m. Be entertained, educated, and amazed by the wonderful things that science can do.

Adult Computer Lab for ages 18+ will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Sat., Apr. 21, from 10 a.m.-noon. Use the computers and receive one-on-one help with using the computer.

Civil War Era Peace Democrats, a program for all ages, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Sat., Apr. 21, from 2-4 p.m. Learn about Civil War era ³Peace Democrats.² Many have called them traitors or southern sympathizers. See an alternate view of American politics during the Civil War.

Introduction to Facebook for ages 18+ will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tue., Apr. 24, from 4-5 p.m. Take an hour and learn how to sign up for and use Facebook.

Xenia Night at the Movies, a program for all ages, will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thu., Apr. 26, from 5:30-8 p.m. Screen a newly released to dvd blockbuster movie.
