June Business After Hours Held at Nick's Restaurant
Who knew that a penny and a postcard could kick-off summer for the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce?! A HUGE 'thank you' to Nick's Restaurant for hosting June's Business After Hours! What a great evening you provided for those in attendance!
Nick's Restaurant, located just off US-68, has been a part of the Xenia community for over 60 years and is one of the favorite hang-out spots in Xenia. Nick's provided each attendee's first drink for just a penny, and had plenty of delicious appetizers such as their famous wings, cucumber sandwiches, fresh fruit, and more to go with that beverage of choice. (The sangria was amazing!) Games such as Left, Right, Center were set up for guests to win "Alan Bucks" – good as gift certificates redeemable at Nick's. Some guests left with a handful of bucks, which will surely give a good reason for those guests to frequent Nick's in the near future! Nick's had available their carry-out menus and information about their 1st Golf Outing, planned for Wednesday, July 14, 2010. (Call Nick's Restaurant at (937) 372-3202 for more information…and wish them better weather than the XACC Golf Outing had last month!) Through all their promotions and offerings to guests, Nick's proved that one of the many benefits of hosting a Business After Hours is getting the word out about your company in a new and creative ways!

As guests arrived at Nick's patio in the heat, they were greeted by Chrissy Roundtree of the Chamber, and Gregg McGuire of McGuire Coaching, LLC, as Chamber President Alan Liming mingled with guests on the patio. Entering the patio area, Gregg graciously passed out pennies for those who forgot to bring their change as Chrissy registered everyone for the event. She also reminded all who attended to drop their business cards into the bucket. Don't forget that Business After Hours also brought about the newest prize-winning contest – "Bucket to Basket"! Every attendee of the BAH is requested to submit one business card per event into a large silver bucket, which registers them to win the prize basket at the December 2010 BAH. The basket consists of gift cards, cash prizes, entertainment tickets, and much more. The value of the basket is already up to $2,000! Sorry, you must attend BAH in order to enter your card, only one card per BAH is permitted, and you must be present at the December event to win! Not that the basket should be the only reason to come in December…the Chamber is planning a great party for the BAH in December!

As always at Business After Hours, door prizes were won by guests. T-shirts and a fun basket containing numerous bottles of specialty alcohol provided by Nick's, floral arrangements from The Flower Stop, along with an American patriotic bag filled with items that will come in handy for July 4th celebration donated by Ohio Real Estate Title were given away. The winner of the Split the Pot graciously gave the money back to be used for the Chamber's Partners In Education Committee's Scholarship Fund. See Chrissy at the registration table as you enter the next BAH and receive one ticket for $1 or six tickets for $5 for the Split the Pot. You do not have to be present to win the Split the Pot, which increases your chance of taking home a cash prize!
Business After Hours are always held on the second Thursday of the month to help solidify the unity of businesses in the Xenia area and for the people you meet there to walk away remembering your name and company profile.
The next BAH will be a CASUAL event held on Thursday, July 8, at Kil Kare Raceway, 1166 Dayton-Xenia Road. If you have questions before the event, please feel free to contact Chrissy or Alan at the Chamber! (937) 372-3591. Come prepared for fun at the races!
