The American Red Cross Hosts Latest Business After Hours
On Thursday, March 11, The American Red Cross in Xenia (1080 E. Main Street) hosted the third consecutive Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce "Business After Hours" event in 2010. The American Red Cross had approximately 60 guests in total attendance for the event. The American Red Cross has been serving the Greene County community for 90+ years. Guests who attended the BAH heard about the up-comings of the American Red Cross, including their annual Fashion Gala. On Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Hope Hotel in Fairborn, The American Red Cross will be hosting their fourth annual "Putting on the Glitz" Celebrity Fashion Gala. The event is a fundraiser featuring a celebrity fashion show, dinner, silent/live auction and dancing. Over 30 community leaders from the Greene/Montgomery County areas will be participating in our event as models, including our very own Xenia Chamber President, Mr. Alan Liming. For more information about the Fashion Gala, see the Chamber website.
Again, one of the many benefits of hosting a Business After Hours is getting the word out about your company in a new and creative way…and that is exactly what the Red Cross did on Thursday!
As guests arrived at the Business After Hours, they were directed to sign in and drop their business cards into the bucket. Don’t forget that Business After Hours also brought about the newest prize-winning contest – "Bucket to Basket"! Every attendee of the Business After Hours is requested to submit one business card per event into a large silver bucket, which registers them to win the prize basket at the December 2010 BAH. The basket consists of gift cards, cash prizes, entertainment tickets, and much more. The value of the basket is already up to $1,800! Sorry, you must attend Business After Hours in order to enter your card, only one card per Business After Hours is permitted, and you must be present at the December event to win! Not that the basket should be the only reason to come in December…the Chamber is planning great things for that holiday Business After Hours!
Throughout the evening, guests mingled and munched on light refreshments as numerous door prizes consisting of floral arrangements, emergency bags, and more were given away. Joe Kennedy won the "Split the Pot", and took away $44 in cash! The proceeds the Chamber receives from the "Split the Pot" is used for the Partners In Education's Scholarship Fund. Door prizes and a "Split the Pot" raffle are always offered and given away at each Business After Hours! See Chrissy at the registration table as you enter the next Business After Hours and receive one ticket for $1 or six tickets for $5 for the "Split the Pot". You do not have to be present to win, which increases your chance of taking home a cash prize!

Business After Hours are always held on the second Thursday of the month to help solidify the unity of businesses in the Xenia area and for the people you meet there to walk away remembering your name and company profile.
The next Business After Hours will be hosted by Greene Memorial Hospital/Kettering Health Network on Thursday, April 8, and be watching your emails and the Chamber's website for more details. If you have questions before the event, please feel free to contact Chrissy or Alan at the Chamber! (937) 372-3591.
