"Putting on the Glitz" Celebrity Fashion Gala
The American Red Cross has been serving the Greene County community for 90+ years. On Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Hope Hotel in Fairborn, Ohio we will be holding our fourth annual "Putting on the Glitz" Celebrity Fashion Gala. The event is a fundraiser featuring a celebrity fashion show, dinner, silent/live auction and dancing.
Over 30 community leaders from the Greene/Montgomery County areas will be participating in our event as models. Our 2009 models included: on-air media personalities from all the local TV and radio stations, the mayors and other officials of Xenia, Beavercreek, Yellow Springs, Fairborn and Cedarville; police and fire chiefs of all Greene County communities; administrators and faculty from Clark State Community College, Xenia Public Schools, Central State University, Wilberforce University, Wright State University and Antioch College; small business owners and the president of the Dayton Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; WPAFB officers; physicians and hospital administrators from throughout the region ... and, of course, our own volunteers.
Last year, over 50 local sponsors donated their money, time or other resources to help us with this event. Incredibly, at a time when many other non-profit organizations scaled back fund-raising events (or cancelled altogether), "The Glitz" succeeded in achieving our goal! We believe our success can be attributed to frankly, our supporter’s recognizing that we need to be there when the community needs our help.
This is our major local fund-raiser of the year for Greene County. While many people associate the Red Cross with high profile national and international disasters, and donate generously to such catastrophes, funding for smaller personal tragedies often goes unpublicized and unnoticed. Proceeds from this event will benefit the American Red Cross.
This fundraiser helps to insure that the Dayton Area Chapter, American Red Cross, Greene County Service Center will be able to continue to meet the needs of Greene County families in the future.
We are asking your organization or corporation to take part in this successful, highly-publicized event by being one of our much needed sponsors, donating a monetary gift or an auction item.
