XHS hosts course information night for the 2010-2011 school year
Xenia High School (XHS) will hold its Course Information Night for the 2010-2011 academic year at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, in the XHS auditorium.
Incoming freshmen and current high school students will find information about selection of electives, course selection and graduation requirements. Many of the clubs/activities/organizations at the high school will be available for families to review and meet with representatives in the cafeteria following the program.
XHS counselors will also be available in the cafeteria to answer questions relating to courses.
An optional session beginning at 7:45 p.m. will be offered on post secondary enrollment options for students who might wish to pursue college class work during their high school careers.
This session is required for students and parents who plan to participate in this program.

Xenia Board of Education awards Pride Certificates to students, staff for achievements
Multiple awards were presented at the January Xenia Board of Education meeting to Xenia Community staff and students for their achievements. XCS Supt. Jeffrey K. Lewis, Ed.D., presented Pride Certificates on behalf of the Board. Central Middle School teacher Betsy Murray was named Outstanding Teacher for December 2009 by the Ohio Lottery while Xenia High School student Brady OCallaghan was named Student of the Month.
Xenia High School student Jonathon Rose was honored for achieving a perfect score on the math portion of the Ohio Graduation Test or OGT.
XCS Supt. Lewis presented his Pride Certificate.
Dr. Lindsay Florkey, representing the Xenia Lions Club, received a Pride Certificate from Dr. Lewis for donating new glasses to a student in the school district.

Xenia High School teacher Mark Niles was honored for being named Westfield Insurance Outstanding Ohio Educator for November 2009.
The XCS Special Education Department was honored for their exemplary assessment from the Ohio Department of Education. Shown representing the department are, left to right, school psychologist Deb Smyth; special education supervisor Zita Gibbs; Supt. Jeffrey K. Lewis; and special education supervisor Dawn Snyder.

Members of the Xenia Board of Education were honored for their contributions in honor of School Board Recognition Month 2010.
