Library to Reduce Operating Hours in January
Due to reductions in State funding, the Greene County Public Library will reduce operating hours of the Library system beginning January 4, 2010.
“The Board is making these changes in order to keep the Library open to serve the public into the year 2013,” said Karl Colón, Director of the Greene County Public Library system.
The Library has relied heavily on State funding over the years, but because the economy has been in such a drastic downturn, the Library’s primary funding source is now the local 1 mil levy. With the changes in hours and the passage of our renewal levy, we are pretty sure we will be able to keep our doors open into the year 2013 unless our State funding has another dramatic fall. This is mostly due to our Board’s diligent stewardship of public money over the years.”
The new hours for the libraries starting January 4 are as follows:
Cedarville and Jamestown -
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: noon to 8 p.m.
Wednesday and Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Fairborn, Xenia and Yellow Springs - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: noon to 8 p.m.
Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Beavercreek, Fairborn, Xenia and Yellow Springs will also be open on Sundays during the school year from 1-5 p.m.
