AHOP will host its 9th Annual B4 Project on December 10-12

In November of 2000 a small group of folks came together to launch a new ministry in the community of Xenia known as AHOP, an acronym for A House of Prayer. One month after starting we found ourselves embarking on the holiday season with a deep concern for families facing economic challenges.

This compassion had roots in our Senior Pastor’s, Mark Brooks, upbringing in the home of the late Reverend Bruce Brooks who pastored in Xenia for 38 years.  Every year of his 38 years as a senior pastor they partnered with many local businesses including Jack Kennedy and Kennedy’s Market, to ensure that families in Xenia were able to eat during the holiday season.

In the spirit of our heritage of helping those in need, we named the project the Bruce Brooks Baskets of Blessings.  For the sake of referring to it quickly, we shortened it to the B4 mission.  The 4 B’s represent our opportunity we feel compelled to fulfill B4 we can truly enjoy the season.

In 2000, our first annual B4, we helped 3 dozen families with groceries that lasted some for up to 3 weeks. The last several years it has grown into a three day job with hundreds of people helping to pack and prepare for delivery.  In 2007 & 2008 we provided for 200 families throughout the Miami Valley.  The amount of food we supply sustains the average household for weeks.

This year we are reducing our project in concern for the lack of funding.  Our appeal is only meant for those who desire to share some of their blessings and may not know where or how they can do that and at the same time be assured it is making a difference.

This year our goal is 150 families.  If you can help us to have another successful year by a monetary gift or food items that can be included, please let us know.  For example: one local grocery supplier is providing 750 cans of green beans, 5 per family.
