Greene County FFA host Blue and Gold Agriculture Day for Xenia Community Schools fifth-grade students.

Celebrating the science of agriculture with fifth grade students throughout Xenia Community Schools, members of the Greene County FFA recently hosted their third annual Blue and Gold Agriculture Day at the Greene County Exposition and Fair Center, Xenia.

The mission of the Blue & Gold Agriculture Day is to educate the consumers of tomorrow about Ohios largest industry--- agriculture.

All fifth grade students in the Xenia school district learned where their food comes from and the importance of agriculture; participated in hands-on activities showing the diversity of agriculture; gained an interest and appreciation for Greene County FFA; and learned components of the fifth-grade science curriculum.

A member of the Greene County FFA or a community volunteer directly tied to agriculture led each session.

For more information about the Greene County FFA at Xenia High School, contact Xenia High School vocational agriculture teacher Matt Smith at

Hot dogs and all the trimmings were on the menu recently at Cox Elementary School as families were invited for lunch to dine with their children.  The event allowed staff, families and students to visit and share any concerns about class work.  Xenia Community Schools Supt.
Jeffrey K. Lewis, Ed.D., stopped by one afternoon to help out on the lunch line.  Shown in the Tiger Caf are, left to right, XCS lunch lady Vicki Day, Lewis, and XCS lunch lady Ann Whorley.
