Simon Kenton elementary school students remember troops serving in Middle East
Handcrafting cards with personal messages, students at Simon Kenton Elementary School recently sorted and mailed their handiwork for soldiers serving overseas in the Middle East. Working with SoldiersAngels.org to locate deployed units who could use a friendly voice from home, the students also learned more about the countrys soldiers and the sacrifices they make every day. Kiwanis volunteered to pay for all postage for their cards.
Danielle Gritton is all smiles as she prepares to write a personalized note of encouragement and gratitude to a soldier.
Simon Kenton teacher Kristin Kempf gets down at eye level to complete a graph of completed cards with, left to right, Abigail Osborn, Madison Gregory and Casey Sturgill.
