Greene County Combined Health District announces Community Flu Clinic (for seasonal flu)

The Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) has announced that it will hold a community flu clinic (for seasonal flu) in Xenia on October 1, 2009.

The clinic schedule is as follows:
   Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009:    7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds; 120 Fairground Rd., Xenia; Building 3.
The cost is $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for children.  We accept Medicaid, CareSource, Molina, AmeriGroup or Medicare Part B.  People with Medicare Part C and other insurances will need to pay cash and send a receipt to their insurance company for reimbursement.  Cash and checks will be accepted.  For this clinic, we are offering drive-thru service for people who cannot easily get out of their vehicles.

Starting in November, seasonal flu shots will be available for adults and children at GCCHD during regular immunization clinic on Tuesdays, 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.
As per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), GCCHD will be providing the seasonal flu vaccine to Greene County residents who meet at least one of the following criteria:
•    Children ages 6 months through 18 years of age.
•    Persons with a chronic medical condition including diabetes, heart disease or respiratory conditions such as asthma.
•    Adults ages 50 years and older because of an increased risk for severe complications from influenza.
•    Pregnant women.
•    Healthy household contacts and caregivers of young children, seniors and other persons at risk.

Greene County Health Commissioner, Mark A. McDonnell, reminds everyone to maintain good health by washing hands regularly, covering coughs and sneezes, eating a balanced diet, exercising and getting the right amount of sleep.
