Xenia Library Announces July Programs

Greene County Libraries Closed Saturday, July 4
All locations of the Greene County Public Library will be closed on Saturday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The libraries will reopen at their regular times on Sunday, July 5.

Exciting and fun programs for people of all ages are being planned at the Xenia Community Library, 76 East Market Street.

July Story Times

A Music & Movement Story Time for ages 2-5 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Wednesday, June 3-July 29, at 10 a.m. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.


July Children’s Programs

Family Movie will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Monday, July 6, at 6:30 p.m. Bring the whole family for a fun film on the big screen.

Family Story Time will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Monday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m. Bring the whole family for stories and activities. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

Nursery Song & Sign for ages 6-24 months will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Monday, June 29-July 20, at 10 a.m. This four-week class will use music and song to teach parents and their babies basic American Sign Language.  Registration is limited and will begin June 8. Balloon Creations for ages 7 and up will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Wednesday, July 1, at 2 p.m. Lea Craine teaches how to twist balloons into hats, animals, swords, and more! Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

Poetry Explosion for ages 7-12 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thursday, July 2, at 4 p.m. Be creative with words and create poetry. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

A Sidewalk Chalk program will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Friday, July 3, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Drop in and create a chalk masterpiece on our patio.

Make hats & vests at the Xenia Community Library on Thursday, July 9, at 4 p.m.
Kids, ages 5-12, can make amazing hats and vests from paper. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

Make an instrument at the Xenia Community Library on Friday, July 10, from 3-5 p.m.
Drop in and create a musical instrument.

Origami Workshop for ages 6 and up will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 14, at 6 p.m. Jonathan Heart will lead a hands-on origami workshop. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

Make a Book at the Xenia Community Library on Thursday, July 16, at 4 p.m. Kids, ages 5-12, can write and illustrate their own books. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

Bottle Cap Magnets program for ages 6-12 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Friday, July 17, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Drop in and decorate bottle caps to use as magnets.

Storyteller Indiana Bones will visit the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. Listen to Indiana Bones dig up amazing surprises and tell ancient stories with new twists. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

A Kente Cloth program for ages 5-12 will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Thursday, July 23, at 4 p.m. Learn about Kente Cloth, then create a unique design. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

String Art program will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Friday, July 24, from 3-5 p.m. Drop in and paint a picture using string.


July Teen Programs

Anime Club will meet at the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 7, at 4 p.m. Watch anime and discuss it with friends. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

Origami Workshop for all ages will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 14, at 6 p.m. Jonathan Heart will lead a hands-on origami workshop. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

CD Mosaics program will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 21, at 4 p.m. Make a mosaic work of art using recycled CDs. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

A Coffee House program will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 28, at 4 p.m. Make flavored coffee drink and learn how to paint with coffee grounds. Registration is required. Call 352-4000 x 4.

July Adult Programs

Adult Computer Lab will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Tuesday, July 7-28, at 9:30 a.m. Practice and improve computer skills. Staff members will be available to provide individual computer assistance.

A Basic Computer Skills program will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Wednesday, July 15, at 3 p.m. People with little or no computer experience can learn the basics, including the keyboard and the mouse.

An Introduction to the Internet will be held at the Xenia Community Library on Wednesday, July 22, at 3 p.m. Learn the basics about the Internet.

Come Search the Web at the Xenia Community Library on Wednesday, July 29, at 3 p.m. Learn to search for and evaluate information on the Internet.

Sogbety Diomande, a program for all ages, will perform at the Xenia Community Library on Thursday, July 9, at 7 p.m.     Come in for an evening of African dance and drumming.
