Warner Middle School Students "Play" at Reality During School's Career Day Program
All eighth grade students at Warner Middle School took a bite of reality recently when participating in the school's Career Day and Real World: Real Money activities. Students listened to a variety of community professionals about career options and participated in the Real World: Real Money activities, which were sponsored by OSU Extension-Greene County and are held at schools throughout the state.
During the event, students are assigned an identity by job, income and numbers of family members. They must visit stations representing such areas a transportation, housing, insurance, communication, child care and more. The event is designed to illustrate the true cost of living, the importance of education and the need for prioritizing financial needs.

Sierra Knight listens intently to her options regarding childcare costs during one of her stops at the stations comprising Real World: Real Money. The reality training exercise is designed to show students the real world costs of earning a pay check and paying bills.
